Artist Alisha Amnesia founded Punk Majesty in 2014 when doctors told her she had to stop talking due to vocal problems. She was forced to take almost a year off work, after a decade of working in live music events. Determined to make the most of her time and stay positive, Punk Majesty was born. Her attention to detail and flair for beautiful punk-inspired designs are statement pieces, each a work of wearable art.
Punk Majesty by Alisha Amnesia is a custom line of one-of-a-kind statement pieces for all genders, shapes and sizes. The ethos of the brand is empowerment.
Punk Majesty has been worn by Jane Wiedlin of The Go Go's, Captain Sensible of The Damned, vocalist Jake Hout of The Dead Boys, and guitarist Neal X of Sigue Sigue Sputnik and Marc Almond (of Soft Cell)'s current band. The line is currently being carried at I NEED MORE in NYC and Ceiba and West Coast Leather in San Francisco.
Punk Majesty is for Rock Stars and Risk Takers-- People who stand out in a crowd and make a statement. The messages of Punk Majesty are powerful, positive and strong.
The self appointed Queen of DIY, Alisha is the designer, photographer, webmaster, does all promotion and social media, shipping, research, ordering, accounting, inventory tracking, model scouting, booking models and events, photo shoots, styling and event production.
Punk Majesty has done multiple shows in San Francisco, Hollywood, Brooklyn and New York City.
Punk Majesty jackets are customized with punk-inspired details such as chain mail, locks, chains, studs, spikes, kilt pins, safety pins, leather, etc.
“I like the idea of recycling and re-purposing, which is why I find and use pieces of clothing that already exist and then I customize them, making them something completely different than they were before. This is eco-friendly upcycled fashion.”
Her goal is to become a thriving direct-to-customer online business. Her dream is for Punk Majesty to become a well-known line, like others she has admired over the years, to be included in editorial photo shoots and on red carpets, as well as to branch out into furniture and home goods. Some fashion icons and designers she admires are (70's) Johnny Rotten, Boy George, Vivienne Westwood, Pam Hogg, Stephen Sprouse, Betsey Johnson, John Varvatos and Jean Paul Gaultier to name a few.
The next step is to make connections to help her take Punk Majesty there. Alisha has the artistic vision and the drive, but as an artist, she needs to connect with knowledgeable fashion business people that can help guide, invest, and expand the business beyond a one woman, one-of-a-kind custom boutique business. In the meantime, Punk Majesty is a custom one-of-a-kind line.
The brand began as 100% upcycled, but now also offers new items due to supply availability and demand. All pieces are repurposed except the gloves and ties, and some of the Leather Jackets. The reason for this is the difficulty in finding all sizes to upcycle, and the Punk Majesty standard of quality. The eventual goal is to work with a recycled leather manufacturer for all Punk Majesty Leather.
